Hello again everyone,
I start this week’s post off with a question: How many of you have used or at least heard about TrueCrypt? Now TrueCrypt has long since become an abandoned project. But as is often the case with Open Source software, the long standing project was ported and continues to be supported under a new name. This new name you ask? VeraCrypt. VeraCrypt is a very secure filesystem encryption software that allows users to even do things like full disk encryption. What’s more VeraCrypt (and even the TrueCrypt project) support cascading of encryption algorithms meaning that you can enable encryption such as AES-Twofish-Serpent (yes your data is encrypted 3 times, using 3 different algorithms).
I like to operate on the premise that everything should be worth encrypting. If you are like me and want to encrypt your Windows machines, then I strongly recommend looking at VeraCrypt. It’s very good protection (and it’s free and open source).
